Cheerful Japan Nendoroid Miku

A bit after the big earthquake, tsunami and subsequent nuclear cock-up (nice one Tohoku Denryoku) , actually, that should be cock ups,  Good Smile Company launched a money raising campaign called ‘Cheerful Japan’ where they refashioned some toys, gave them a flag or something and a whack of money went to help the people in the Tohoku region to cope with the triple blast they got.

This Miku is a Nendoroid, so a cute and cuddly ‘chibi’ version of Miku.  I don’t generally get Nendoroids as instead of having articulated joints, you have to swap over arms and stuff, but hey, this was a special situation.  Although not all are bad.  Sonic is pretty good and this one is cute.

A fairly large box that displays all the figure and on the back has a bunch of pictures with her various faces and accessories.  Generally she has a flag and Pom poms for accessories and some card doodads.

As you can see, she also has a couple of blank flags for writing your own message on as well as a post card thing.

Miku herself is fairly cute and chibi.  Flat paint colours are used and look nice enough for her and she has all the appropriate Miku-like detail.  She has a small hole in the side of her hair for her microphone head set thing which is separated in two pieces.

Nendoroids have limited articulation as they are small little chums but there is still some nice detail on them.  She comes with an arm and a leg that have been sculpted with a bend in them if you want to get some action poses going on.  Sadly though they can only be used on just one side.

She is designed to be pulled apart quite extensively and it’s nice too see a bit of pantsu detail with the ribbon.  The smile on the joint is adorable too!

The usual details are pretty good too, I like that she still has Vocaloid written on her breast.  The frills on her collar and even tie pin are pretty cool.  There’s some nice shading on the back of her hair as well.

The digital looking display on her sleeves has also been kept and her hands can be swapped with the pom poms.  Much like a normal figma, they just slide a peg into the hole.  What I do like, is although the hands don’t have a ball joint as such, the pom poms do!  Hand wise, she just comes with left and right fists and open hands.

Her flag, which comes with the default quote of “Isshoni Ganbarou!” – “Together we can endure.” on one side and nothing on the back.  Perhaps so one can use one’s own idea with the white stickers.  The flag is a nice cute little musical note and the bottom of the note pops off so you can slide it into her hand.

You can probably see that she comes with a variety of faces, and to my surprise a variety of hair styles!

The hair styles are a bit tricky to really see any difference.  One is slightly messier perhaps?

And that is pretty much all there is to this version of Miku.  It’s rather cute and the fund raising charity side of things makes it a bit more special for me.  Which is probably the main reason I got this.  As I stated before, the Nendoroids don’t really do it for me (despite me owning about 4 now…) with having to swap over parts for some action poses.  She only comes with one bent leg so her ‘action’ poses are limited.  I also found swapping the hands incredibly hard and annoying.  But that surprised face is hilarious!

This version doesn’t have a microphone, but you do have her ear pieces and since it has the pompoms, it doesn’t really need the usual Miku  accessories.  it is by no means a must buy, but it is certainly cute enough for me enjoy having it in my collection.
